Making Sense of it All

Our parent and carers' guidebook

Making Sense of it All is designed to help parents of children with SEND aged 0-14 in West Sussex learn how to get the support they need for their child and family. It covers a wide range of subjects including diagnosis, benefits, education, health, social care and local leisure opportunities.

The book is firmly established as a must have guide for parents in West Sussex and if sometimes referred to as the “parent bible”. Since we first published Making Sense of it All in 2012 we have distributed over 7,000 copies of the book.

We published a 3rd edition of the guide in September 2017. The new edition includes major updates on the delivery of education, health and social care in West Sussex, a considerable number of new entries in our directories and for the first time, a comprehensive index to ensure information is always to hand.

Thanks to BIG Lottery funding the book is now available to parents free of charge (plus £2.50 postage & packing). You can order the book via the link (see left). You can also enquire about free copies of the book via your school or local children & family centres. Reference copies are also available in local libraries.
